José F. Silva '84 Endowed
Memorial Scholarship
Originally known as the Latino/a Scholarship Fund, the José F. Silva '84 Endowed Memorial Scholarship was founded in 1994 and endowed in 2000 to attract and empower future change makers from the Latine community. The scholarship supports the academic and professional development of students as a means to enhance their leadership skills, and to promote and celebrate Latine cultural heritage within the campus community and beyond.
Silva scholars are selected on the basis of their commitment to social justice, demonstrated leadership, academic excellence, financial need, and involvement within the Latine community. Since its founding, the scholarship has provided 41 students with over $266,000 in support! It continues to be a critical resource for keeping an Oxy education accessible for talented students who are driven to make a difference.
Please consider making a gift today to help the scholarship reach its $400,000 funding goal by June 30, 2025! Contributions to the endowment ensure life-changing opportunities for students, in perpetuity, and serve as a direct investment in future generations of community leaders.
